Maison de Jacques is a Chalet Apartment comprising of the left-hand side of Chalet Balmat. This beautiful new build has all the charm of an older farmhouse and can comfortably host 6 guests.

This stunning new build, sets a benchmark in design in The Grand Massif. The interior is finished to an extremely high standard - with vintage design cues and a rustic mountain edge, Balmat seeks to provide the most authentic of alpine experiences with a full package of modern amenities. It is named after Jacques Balmat, the famous local mountain guide who completed the first successful ascent of Mont Blanc in 1786.

Situated 2km above the village of Morillon, just a few minutes drive from the ski lift connecting you to the entire Grand Massif domain, namely Samoens, Flaine and Sixt Fer-a-Cheval. This home provides you with a tranquil haven with incredible views, away from the hustle and bustle of the village below, yet close enough that guests can easily access restaurants, cafés and bars nearby.

This wonderful chalet comfortably sleeps 6 in beds and upon request, all rooms have the possibility of being set up as a twin bedroom or a super king double. All three bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms the master bedrooms enjoys an additional freestanding bath !

Home Truths

• Maison de Jacques is the right hand side portion of Chalet Balmat. Therefore the next door chalet apartment (Petit Balmat) may also have guests. Please respect your neighbours, be mindful of noise levels and car parking arrangements.

• The hot tub and decking area are for the exclusive use of Petit Balmat. Maison de Jacques does not have its own hot tub.

• A car is essential to get around. The chalet is located above the main village. It takes around 5 minutes to reach the ski lift and snow chains may be required during periods of heavy snow. There is no ski bus.

• Though rare - due to the mountain location - it is also possible that the wi-fi internet is at times slower depending on weather and time of year.

Location

Maison de Jacques is located above Morillon village and within a practical distance to the ski lift. The location is perfect for privacy and to enjoy an authentic mountain experience. It takes less than 10 minutes by car to reach the ‘Telecabine de Morillon’ lift connecting you to the Grand Massif ski domain in winter, which boasts some of the best skiing in the world. Suitable for all levels, there is over 275km of piste and 139 slopes to explore and plenty of off-piste for more advanced skiers. In the summer, this area is a hub for adventure sports such as hiking, mountain biking, climbing and paragliding.

 

Distances & Transport

Morillon Centre: 2km; Ski Lift: 2km; Geneva Airport: 80km (1hr 15); Paris: 600km (6hrs+); London: 1,000km (12hrs+)

A car is essential at this chalet. However for larger groups, or those with a scattered arrival time, you may additionally opt for a transfer service directly from Geneva Airport, which will take you directly to the chalet. We recommend contacting the chalet’s very own conciergerie, or if there is no availability, please contact Mountain Lifts or Go Massif. For bookings between November – April, we recommend that you have a 4×4 or at the very least, snow chains in your car. The road is ploughed 2 – 3 times daily but it is always a good idea to arrive prepared for heavy snow conditions. if it snows heavily during the daytime. It is legal requirement in the French Alps to come equipped with snow chains that specifically fit you vehicle

Policies

Maison de Jacques is available to rent all year round… Email or give us a call for any further information

Changeover day for the chalet is Sunday… However please ask if you’d like a different arrival day as we can sometimes be flexible

Security Deposit amount is €1,000 (or £1,000) – Payable by Bank Transfer before arrival

Rental payments can be paid in 2 instalments – a 30% deposit is required at the time of booking, the 70% balance will be due 60 days before arrival.

Pet Policy: We are dog-friendly and can accept one small/medium, well behaved & house trained dog at an extra charge of €100. We ask that all furry guests are kept out of bedrooms and prevented from climbing onto furniture. All dog litter should be removed from exterior spaces (garden, porch, patio and green spaces around the property). Pets must be declared at the time of booking, with details including age, breed, size and temperament.
